AC Schnitzer’s one-of-a-kind project vehicle “The Topster”, is an example of just how far (and fast) the imagination and four decades of racing experience can take you.

The vehicle’s original form was a 2003 Z4. After months and hundreds of thousands of euros later, the Topster now has a hard top, is a V8 and boasts 450 hp. To accommodate the 10” x 20” rear Type IV Racing wheels, AC Schnitzer significantly widened the rear.

CEC, the North American distributor of AC Schnitzer featured the engineering superstar at the Claus Ettensberger ‘05 Collection Preview in Vegas last November. There, Jay Jones, contributing writer for Roundel Magazine, spotted the car by sight and by sound, hearing the Topster engine growl as it was being moved into position.  That was enough for Jones; he had to review the car back in LA.

AC Schnitzer flew out their chassis developer Manfred Wollgarten, who also has an impressive record as a professional race car driver, to demonstrate the incredible performance of the Topster to the press. With Manfred at the wheel and Jay shotgun, the Topster was let loose on the winding roads of Malibu, California.  

Jay’s ride was an incredible adrenaline rush, to say the least, but it also proved the prowess and shear muscle of the Topster. All made possible by the experts at AC Schnitzer Germany.
