Special Coverage of the 2012 LA Auto Show

Dating back to 1907, the Los Angeles Auto Show began with a mere 99 vehicles on display at that time; now in 2012 we have over 1,000 cars, trucks, and SUVs on exhibit. With the Los Angeles Auto Show being the last major U.S. auto show in 2012, it’s no surprise that a number of world debuts take place here, including the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Black Series, Jaguars newest sports sedan the F-Type, and an appearance by the all-new 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish.

Recently Ron Parida, the same producer who created the CEC Porsche Cayenne teaser video, has released two exceptionally well-shot videos highlighting the major unveilings at the 2012 LA Auto Show. We wanted to share this independent project with our fans that were not fortunate enough to attend the show this year.

The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Black Series Gullwing produces a monster 631 hp at 7400 rpms and accelerates to 60 mph in just under 3.6 seconds, and hits 100 mph about as fast as a Ferrari Enzo. The biggest changes for the SLS Black Series, aside from the engine improvements, are the weight savings of around 155 pounds from the standard SLS, helping to achieve a startling top speed of 196 mph.

Jaguar’s newest sports car the F-Type, is a modern take on the classic convertible, which cranks out 495 hp to the rear wheels. Jaguar has decided to include their new QuickShift 8-speed transmission in the all-new 2014 F-Type, however the verdict is still out on whether or not this new transmission will be embraced by customers or if it be the Achilles heel.

At long last, the completely redesigned Aston Martin Vanquish has concluded its “Americas’ preview tour” at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The new Vanquish is powered by a 6.0-liter V8 engine with 565 hp, 45 hp more than the current DBS. In addition, the Vanquish benefits from the One-77 with a carbon fiber body offering a substantial weight savings to the sporty coupe. The Vanquish makes the 60-mph sprint in 4.1 seconds from a standstill and top speed is rated at 183 mph.

If you happened to be at the show this year you might have seen our Caractere Porsche Cayenne Turbo, the very same Cayenne that was in Ron's first teaser video, inside Specialty Car Craft's booth. Insider tip: Keep an eye on the blogs this month, we will be releasing the much anticipated  follow up video of the original CEC Cayenne trailer.
