CEC will offer Lexus customers a unique opportunity to further enhance their Nürburgring edition LFA with special CEC modifications.

Los Angeles - Jan. 27, 2011 - Los Angeles-based automotive customizer CEC has announced it will offer Lexus customers a unique opportunity to further enhance their Nürburgring edition LFA with special CEC modifications. Production of the LFA will be limited to 500 vehicles globally, while the unique Nürburgring track ready edition will be set at 50 supercars. The special CEC modifications will be limited to just three customers.

“We believe these three CEC Tuner Edition LFA’s will be the most expensive and rarest of the LFA supercars that Lexus will manufacture and sell worldwide,” said Sherif Yassa, Vice President of CEC. “We have over 20 years of experience working on super exotic and rare automobiles, but this project is really exciting because of the unique nature of the LFA.”

The CEC Tuner Edition LFA will feature aesthetic enhancements that will really set the car apart. Those that want maximum performance will opt to start with the special Nürburgring package that incorporates various elements from the LFA race car that competed in the “24 Hours of Nürburgring” race. The Nürburgring edition features a sport-tuned suspension and aerodynamics package that includes a larger front spoiler and fixed rear wing for improved high speed downforce. For added performance Lexus engineers coaxed another 10 horsepower out of the 4.8-liter V10 engine and trimmed the automated sequential gearbox shift times to a mere 0.15 of a second.

“We looked at the LFA and what Lexus engineers had done, and knew it would be crazy to try and improve it from a performance or engineering standpoint,” said Claus Ettensberger, founder and CEO of CEC. “It is just an engineering marvel, so we decided that we would try and visually individualize the car by making additions that would compliment its stunning design features. Since carbon fiber plays such a large role in the construction of this car, we decided that we would feature it in our modifications.” The most prominent enhancement to the CEC Tuner Edition LFA is a custom set of Italian-made CEC forged 21-inch wheels that weigh in at a mere 21 lbs each. They will help keep the LFA glued to the ground by utilizing the newest and most technologically advanced tires from Michelin, the brand new Pilot Super Sport. The exterior will receive special carbon fiber trim pieces which CEC will also add to the interior of the car.

“Our goal was to add some subtle changes to an already beautiful automobile,” added Yassa. “What we have done is take a car that was already a standout and added a little extra appeal. It’s an automobile for a person with very discerning taste that desires a rare and exotic tour de force in engineering and craftsmanship expressed in the form of automotive beauty and function.”

The CEC Tuner Edition of the LFA will be available through CEC for a modest premium that is yet to be determined. The base LFA has a starting MSRP of $375,000.
